How is it already January 17, 2017? If these past three weeks have been any indication as to how this year is going to fly by, I need to stop procrastinating so much!
My last post rounded up exactly how KBL Event and Design came about; and after this past holiday season, I am so proud of how far we have come.
With just days left before Christmas, we posted an ad for silhouette ornaments, and had a wonderful amount of interest! So much so, that Kate was crunching just days before Christmas, to make sure that all of the online orders got out in time to be delivered by December 24! Our last ornaments were mailed out on the 17th of December, and made it just in time for Christmas morning.
Fortunately, we were able to spend not only Christmas, but also Thanksgiving, this year, with Kate’s family. We opted to work New Years Eve, and were so terribly disappointed that our Ohio State Buckeye’s took a tough loss in the Fiesta Bowl. While we always hate losing in the postseason, we are still very proud of our young Buckeye’s. (Is it football season yet? O-H…)
I finished my degree in Criminal Justice Administration on December 16 of last year, and graduated on January 8. Even though it took my 9 years, I am thrilled to finally have my Bachelor’s Degree! I really did not have any desire to walk at graduation, but Kate insisted, and I am thankful she did. She was able to capture some wonderful pictures with my mother, my sister, herself, and two of my best friends. The pride I felt as I walked across that stage, is something I am not sure I will ever feel again.
After graduating on Sunday, I started my real estate classes on Monday. Since it took me so long to finish my degree, I have nearly five years experience in the industry, which I quickly figured out that is not where my passion was. My passion was in the real estate market, and checking the MLS, Realtor.com, Zillow, and Trulia, as much as I possibly could. I knew I wanted to learn as much about the market as I possibly could, so we could eventually grow our portfolio in real estate, and decided what better time than now?
Of course, Kate was supportive, always encouraging the crazy ideas I have. I’m not sure who our dog (Benson) think is crazier! With her starting her new job on the same day, January 9, 2017 started a new chapter for the both of us. I am sitting in a classroom for 10 hours a day, to learn as much as possible in the real estate business, and she has much less responsibility without taking a pay cut, and therefore has more time to work on not only the business, but our wedding! It’s a win, win for the both of us!
I am so excited for what is in store for us in 2017. Kate starting her new position, me starting my career in real estate, both of us working as much as possible, building the business, planning our wedding, being the Maid of Honor in my sisters wedding, and having four other weddings on the books….
2017 is bound to be the best year of our lives, and we could not be more thrilled to share it with you!
